State government spending keeps increasing despite budget tightening.

The Chamber of Commerce says the state government spent $1 billion more in 2000 than it did 1999.
Director of fiscal affairs for the Missouri Chamber of Commerce Ray McCarty says the state is spending at a much faster rate than the federal government.
McCarty says the chamber of commerce is asking lawmakers to examine expenditures more closely ... before considering any tax increases.
