Missouri's business associations are not surprised to hear that the state economic department announced that Missouri is officially in a recession.
Kellie Applen has the story in Jefferson City.
The Executive V.P. of the Missouri Association of Realtors, Dennis McDermott, said that although home sales have declined compared to recent years, he is not concerned about Missouri's housing market.
McDermott said that all the factors involved in a healthy housing sales market are still there.
Interest rates are low and Missouri's population is continuing to grow, and Missouri's economy is extremely diverse.
McDermott said that the housing industry was so strong that it is impossible to compare this years numbers with last years.
