A bill pre-filed for Missouri's next legislative session might make it legal for a person to use any means -- including assault --to prevent the desecration of an American flag.

Although Rep. Gaskill does not consider this a violation of free speech, other lawmakers have criticized earlier versions of the bill for being too vague.
Gaskill said that the events of Sept. 11 have increased the importance of respect for the flag.
