Gov. Bob Holden comments on resdistricing committee appointment for the first time

Governor Bob Holden defends his controversial appointment of Representative Marc Richardson as head of the resdistricting committee.

Holden appointed Richardson, despite being informed that Richardson would be receiving 2 state paychecks, which is a constitutional violation.

Republicans say they had withdrawn Richardson's name from the list of nominees after hearing about the potential violation.

But Holden says he was obligated to pick Richardson because the Republicans gave him so few choices.

Richardson has refused to accept the position, and Holden says he has consititutional lawyers looking on how he can appoint someone else.
