Governor Holden outlines his budget cuts for the next fiscal year.

Governor Holden's state budget cuts bring relief to an already tight Missouri economy.

Governor Holden announced his plans yesterday to cut over 185 million dollars from the Missouri state budget for the 2002 fiscal year.

Included in his plans are cuts in administrative expenses, higer-education expenses, tax credit reductions, and witholding a potrion of funding from fourteen state agencies.

The Governor does not plan to cut any state employee jobs, but over six hundred job vacancies will remain un-filled.

Holden says he wants his budget cuts to try and make for a more sound and efficient Missouri economy.

Holden also plans to use tewnty-five million-dollars of Missouri's tobacco settlement money to help ease the cutbacks.

Funds will also be witheld from the travel expenses for many state offices, including the governor's, leaving more money in the capital to work for Missourians.
