Missouri public school teachers are one step closer to getting a pay raise, but only if they ace a test. Seth Bachelier has more from Jefferson City...
The Senate education committee approved a 5-thousand dollar a year raise for national board certified teachers.
If the full Senate approves the bill, then it heads to Governor Holden, who supports the idea.
Holden's legislative liaison Emmy McClelland says it will make teachers better.
Opponents say the state should give money to local school districts and let them decide how to divvy it up.
Right now, only 44 of 60,000 teachers in Missouri are national board certified.
