Mild winter cuts costs of highway maintenence

The warm winter is keeping highway costs down for Missouri taxpayers. Farrah Fite has the story from Jefferson City.

Unseasonable weather is saving the Missouri Department of Trasnportation money. MDOT spends millions of dollars on salt and overtime to drivers to keep roads safe. But the nice weather is helping cut those prices.

MDOT Technical Support Engineer, Tom Borgmeyer, says that not having to rebuild salt supplies next year is a large cut in expenses.

Borgmeyer says the extra money will shift to other highway maintenence tasks like pavement repair and drainage. Farrah Fite from Jefferson City.
