Governor Mel Carnahan voted for Democratic Presidential Candidate Al Gore in the Missouri primary.

Tight-lipped for months, Governor Mel Carnahan waited until the day of the Missouri primary to reveal his Democratic candidate of choice.

The governor says he felt his endorsement wouldn't have made a difference in either campaign.

But Carnahan admits he held back endorsing a candidate because of commitments to his own campaign for the US Senate.
