The Missouri Department of Transportation has decided what it wants to do with Highway 70. But, who's going to pay for it?
Rodger Oakes has more from Jefferson City.
For three billion dollars Missouri could build a new, 8 lane highway. Instead, the Department has decided it prefers to widen Highway 70 to 6 lanes. The concern is the price tag will be between $2.5 and $3 billion dollars said MoDOT's Director of Project Development, Dave Nichols.
There are various other funding problems the Transportation Department faces. For example, current law would require at least 20 separate contracts to complete the proposed construction.
From Jefferson City, I'm Rodger Oakes.
