The Missouri Senate approved a 20 million dollar housing program for the city of St. Louis, prompting Senator Lacy Clay to say if they build it, they will come.
Laetitia Thompson explains from the state capitol.
Clay says the new housing will bring both people and money back into the city limits.
Clay convinced the Senate to give St. Louis the money to rebuild decaying city property into low income housing.
Clay says the program will not only provide affordable housing but will also train participants by allowing them to build the homes.
Clay's proposal will now head to the House for final approval.
From Jefferson City, I'm Laetitia Thompson.
