Salvation Army Coming Up Short?

The Salvation Army in St. Louis is banking on an increase in donations during the last days before Christmas--Kristin Marinec tells us why from Jefferson City.

The Salvation Army's Tree of Lights program is almost two and a half million dollars short of its four and a half million dollar goal this year.

The program, which heads the bellringers, direct mail fundraisers, and other special events, is about twenty-five percent of the Salvation Army's entire annual budget.

Spokesman Matt Gerke says last year the program was 400,000 dollars short--which resulted in an eight percent budget cut.

The program doesn't officially end until January 31st. In Jefferson City, I'm Kristin Marinec.
