You will soon hear hundreds of jingle bells in the St. Louis area--and no, it's not just your imagination. Kristin Marinec has more from Jefferson City.
The Salvation Army Bellringers Program kicks off next Friday for the holiday season.
Those who participate in the program ring bells in front of area stores hoping to get donations from shoppers.
A spokesman for the St. Louis Salvation Army says they use as many volunteers as they can, then offer the remaining jobs to the unemployed. Matt Gerke says the donations fund area programs that help the needy.
Gerke says last year the bellringers raised about 700,000 dollars. From the state capitol, I'm Kristin Marinec.

The Salvation Army Bellringers Program will begin soon, scattering Missouri stores with volunteers ringing bells for the holiday season.
The bellringers are collecting donations for area charities from each and every shopper who walks by.
Salvation Army spokesman Matt Gerke says the donations are very appreciated.
