Governor Announces Plan to Address School Violence

Gov. Mel Carnahan announced the formation of a task force on school violence today/Tuesday. Princess Reyes has more on this story from the state capitol:

Carnahan said the shootings in Littleton, Colorado proves school violence can occur anywhere.

He said the task force should figure out how school districts can identify and help the state's troubled students so they don't turn to violence.

Contents: Carnahan says every community has to actively participate in order to put an end to violence and get help for troubled students.

The task force will conduct public hearings across the state to get input from community members, including students.

They'll present their recommendations to the governor in October.
