St. Louis City and County Senators quickly quashed an amendement that would have potentially shut down the Transworld Dome. Lori Prichard has the latest from Jefferson City.

Republican Senator Sarah Steelman from Rolla introduced legislation that would have halted state payments on bonds that backed the standium's expansion. Steelman said the twelve million dollars should go to children and not sports teams.

But, Republican Senator Betty Sims argued the dome isn't just for sports. She said the dome is used to generate tourism for both the city and the state.

Some Missouri Senators were up in arms over an amendment that called for the state to reneg on bonds that backed the expansion of the Transworld Dome. Lori Prichard reports from Jefferson City.

Republican Senator Sarah Steelman of Rolla introduced legislation that would have halted the state's 12 million dollar payment on the bonds.

She used the St. Louis Rams' over $70 million television contract as evidence the teams don't need the money.

But, Senator Danny Staples voiced his opposition to the proposal by claiming the Rams do need the help.

The Rams aside...St. Louis County Senator Betty Sims said the amendment would destroy St. Louis' tourism industry if the amendment passed.
