Columbia lawmakers say Wednesday's House vote to ban partial birth abortion sets the city apart from others. Kristin Marinec has that story from Jefferson City.
Governor Carnahan says some representatives were hesitant to vote to sustain his veto of the partial birth abortion bill for fear that to do so would be political suicide. But Columbia lawmakers seem immune to that pressure.
All three city representatives voted to sustain the veto even though the vote to override was 134 to 27.
Representative Tim Harlan says Columbia lawmakers are better informed about the outcome of the bill.
