The Senate joined the House in defeating a measure that would have given legislators and judges a pay raise.

Bad weather kept the Senate's two main supporters of the pay increase from missing the vote.

Boone County Senator..Ken Jacob..advocated the pay raise. He showed up in the Capitol less than an hour after the Senate vote had been taken..

Jacob says legislators get paid as much as some of their secretaries.
