Senator Morris Westfall wants massage therapists to meet certain educational and professional standards before they are allowed to practice in the state of Missouri.

Kansas City therapist Nadah Cartmill objects to having what she calls "an ancient healing art" regulated.

Contents: She says massage therapy is a right and a gift for human beings to do for each other whether or not they have specific massage education.

The Senate committee took no action on the bill, and Westfall says he will continue to work with massage therapists to create an acceptable licensing system.
