Missouri Legal Immigrants may find solace in the House welfare reform bill.

The federal government will no longer give welfare money to legal immigrants. But Missouri's legal immigrants may find solace under the House version of the welfare reform bill. Jung Wha Yoon has more.

The bill would give state welfare money on a case by case basis to legal immigrants.

Kansas City representative Loyd Daniels says legal immigrants have just as much right to the aid as Missouri citizens.

Contents: "A lot of people are confused and think legal immigrants don't pay taxes and live on federal and state grants, but they do pay taxes. They work as much as Americans, in some cases more."

Currently, the number of immigrants receiving benefits is low, but under this bill, the state would pay for legal immigrants who move to Missouri.
