Deadbeat parents will still be able to hunt and fish in Missouri - despite a new law that yanks the licenses of those behind in child support payments.

Jennifer Sheffield has the story from Jefferson City:

Missouri's Social Services Department has decided to delay implementing a law yanking the licenses of parents who fail to pay child support.

Until January of 1998, one state agency the Conservation Department will continue to give dead-beat parents licenses for hutning and fishing.

Allan Breshears is an official with the state's Conservation Department:

OutCue: ...we'll implement it.
Contents: Breshears says the Conservation Department is waiting for word on how to implement the new program.

The Social Services Department says the implementation delay gives the department more time to develop the necessary computer system.
