A 34 year veteran of the Missouri National Guard has taken on a higher rank. Sarah Coleman has the story from Jefferson City.
Major General John Havens received his promotion to the rank of Commander in Chief for the Missouri National Guard.
The changing of the guard took effect through a traditional flag ceremony in the presence of Governor Mel Carnahan.
Havens says he is looking forward to his appointment and has his job cut out for him...
Havens replaces a retired Raymond Pendergrass.
