April 17, 1997
By: Renee Basick
State Capital Bureau
Missouri Attorney General, Jay Nixon, refused Thursdayy to discuss state position on a settlement that will strip smokers of right to sue cigarette companies- Renee Basick reports from the state capital.

Attorney General Jay Nixon won't say a word about bargaining that would result in industry immunity- smokers puff at your own risk.

Missouri is not one of the states filing the suit against two tobacco heavy-weights, even though the results will affect everyone.

When asked about it during a press-conference, Nixon declined to comment.
