Senate Committee Examines Auto Insurance

State Senators say they are determined to tighten auto insurance laws this year. Susan Batt has the story.

For the forth year in a row, some state senators are trying to make sure that if you are hit by a car, the other driver is carrying insurance.

St. Louis County Democrat Wayne Goode is one of four senators suggesting changes that make it illegal to drive without insurance.

Goode proposes reforms in the current punishment structure.

Other changes include dramatically lowering the cost of reinstating a suspended license and improving how the government keeps track of insured drivers.
