Safe Schools Goes to House

By a vote of 12 to 5, the House Science Committee has approved legislation designed to make schools a safer place. Beryl Chong files this report from Jefferson City.

The bill for safer schools makes it easier for school districts to suspend and expel students who exhibit disruptive and violent behaviors.

Alternate programs are provided for students who've been expelled before they turn into hardcore criminals.

The bill's sponsor is Kansas City Democrat Steve McLuckie
