On Tuesday, a bill that would have allowed new income tax credits for many Missourians, died in the House of Representatives.

But the question of how to refund the unconstitutional excess the state has collected in taxes this year, persists.

So Thursday, the House gave full support to a bill that would reduce the sales tax on groceries from just over four cents per dollar down to about two cents per dollar.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Ken Jacob sponsored both bills.

Contents: Jacob says now the senate has to stand up and take notice. If this bill doesn't pass, he says, it's because the senators refused to take action on it.

Jacob said he expects the senate to approve the bill, but cautioned you never know what political hurdles it could face--especially in an election year. From the State Capitol, I'm Jack Dolan.
