The House gave preliminary approval to put medical decisions concerning New Mothers into the hands of physicians. Adam Levine has that story from Jefferson City.
The House voted to adopt an amendment requiring Physicians to consider nationally recognizied standards in evaluting when a new Mother is fit to leave the hospital.
Bill Sponsor Glenda Kelly of St. Joseph says she wants insurance carriers to provide minimum insurance coverage of 48 hours.
Kelly's bill does allow Mothers to leave the hospital sooner.
Kelly's overall goal for the legislation is to allow Mothers and babies to focus on good health instead of mounting hospital expsenses.
The measure faces one more vote before it goes onto the Senate. From the State Capitol, I'm Adam Levine.
