The Senate banned gifts from lobbyists for it's members. Jack Dolan has the story from Jefferson City.
The Senate passed a conduct rule banning members from accepting any gift worth more than fifty dollars from a lobbyist.
The rule also says no Senator can accept more than one hundred dollars worth of smaller gifts in any given year.
Columbia Senator Joe Mosely voted for the rule -- but says he thinks the rule places a burden on the wrong shoulders
The rule comes in the middle of debate on a bill that would make such gifts from lobbyists illegal. Senator Joe Maxwell says the new rule is not meant to substitute for the bill.
But once again, the Senate failed to vote on the bill. From Jefferson City, I'm Jack Dolan.
