Just before 9am Tuesday morning, an incidiary device resembling a molotov cocktail was set off outside the Republican Party Headquarters in Columbia.

The incident comes on the first day of Mrs. Dole's visit to the M-U campus.

Columbia Fire Chief George Glenn says Secret Service agents are taking extra care to ensure Mrs. Dole's safety during her stay.

But he says he can't say whether the Dole visit and the Headquarters arson are related.

Glenn says it's too early to name a motive or suspect.

Mrs. Dole's aides are dismissing the arson attempt as a prank.
